Friuli-Venezia Giulia

Friuli-Venezia Giulia is the most north eastern region of Italy. It lies on the border of Austrian and Slovenia, and has changed hands many times over the centuries. Indeed for many years, it was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Both its political and geographical boundaries have contributed to the food culture of the Friuli region (as it is generally known) and to this day, you will see dishes that might be more familiar to an Austrian, Slovenian or even a Hungarian table. Just with an Italian twist.
